When you set up a Paypal account you have the option of adding a bank account, once you have verified that the bank account is yours to can add or withdraw funds to and from your Paypal account for a small fee. It normally takes around five days to transfer money from your Paypal account to your bank account.

It ends up in your paypal account, which you can then use it to buy something else from someone who accepts paypal, transfer it onto a paypal debit card that is accepted at retailers as a credit card, or you can transfer it to your bank account and withdraw it for cash.
