Paypal put a hold on my account because they said they couldnt verify my account and that 180 days later I would be able to withdraw funds. But before the 180 days were over, they withdrew the money and said it was linked to another account with a negative balance which had a similar email address. Is that legal that they just take my money without any proof? What can I do?

I wouldn’t waste your money. The user agreement which everyone agrees to in order to receive a paypal account is damn near iron clad. The ONLY way and I mean the only way to even win this argument is to prove that the linked account is not yours. Just by saying the account doesn’t have the same name doesn’t cut it. Good luck.
First, you need PROOF, PROOF, PROOF !!
You need proof of what ebay did to you.
You need proof of your money.
Your proof needs to be solid, without a doubt.
Get all of your proof together.
Then contact the Attorney General of your State.

This is not the first time Paypal does this, my husband and I have been in a similar situation. I suggest you find yourself a lawyer, and do all that is possible to set Paypal straight. That company is not fair, and will do anything to get people’s money, and they don’t care what they have to do in order to get it. I don’t even have to say that after what happened to my husband and I, we never used Paypal again for our Ebay sales, sales that have been limited, because Ebay is starting to suck as well, we closed the Paypal account.
Don’t even try calling them, because I doubt you will be able to find a telephone number. Neither Ebay or Paypal have a direct line now, everything has to be made via e-mail, which in my opinion is so impersonal.
Also look at their ATM debit cards and credit cards come from. JP MORGAN CHASE BANK. That and FEDUP IS ABSOLUTELY CORRECT. That lady is very observant and pays close attention to detail.
This is not the first time that I have heard of Paypal doing similar things like this. No, it is not legal for them to do this. I would contact a lawyer or maybe the BBB. They may have ideas which you could do to proceed to be able to get your money.
I am afraid you are SOL paypal is a bunch of crooks. If you dig far enough down in their rules you will find that they can do anything they want with you money including keeping it. Paypal is crooked E-Bay is crooked. E-bay owns Paypal.
