I haven’t been using eBay for long.
So when you use paypal to pay for an item, how does the seller know it’s you? I always send them an email to let them know I’ve paid. Is that necessary?

No, you don’t need to email the seller, but you can if you want. I always used to until I started selling and saw things from the other side of the transaction.
The seller receives a “confirmation of payment” advice from PayPal which shows all the details of the transaction – your name and address, the item title and number, plus the amount you paid for the item and the postage costs.
In addition, the item you bought shows up on the seller’s eBay summary page as having been paid for and awaiting dispatch.
I always send an email to let them know I have paid. I feel it is just courtesy. Or when I pay by bank deposit, I tell them that I have left the item number or my EBay name for the sellers reference. I also let them know which branch I paid into from their nominated bank.
No you don’t have to send them an Email.. it doesn’t disclose your information to the person selling. But if you really want them to know it’s you then sending them an Email is ok.
no they will send you an invioce
