Unfortunately I don’t have a CC to use with my paypal account and am wondering if it is safe to use my bank account with paypal.

YES!! I have used Paypal for years and they are very safe and reliable.
HOWEVER, I have also received very convicing spam emails that look like they are from Paypal. The emails tells you that your account is suspended and it wants you to click on a link, log in, and provide your account details. DO NOT fall for this. I consider myself very computer saavy, and the fake email looked legitimate. If you are ever in doubt, close the email and log on to the site on your own (www.paypal.com). Then, go to your account and see if there is a notice. There will likely not be. A legitimate company would never ask you to click on a link embedded in an email to provide sensitive information.
Go for it! I was an Ebay addict and used Paypal often.

Yes, absolutely it is safe, I have been using it for years. The only thing I would recommend, is that there is a lot of spam emails going around saying they are from pay pal. Never log into paypal from an email. Always go directly to http://www.paypal.com and make sure the little “lock” is there at the bottom of your page (secure site sign). It is an awesome service!
Yes, it is safe as long as you don’t share your information. Paypal hides the account number and they always send you an email whenever a payment is made. It is just like writing a check.
Pay-Pal is owned by eBay and it is very safe or eBay would be out of business
