I Am Selling An Item On Craigslist And A Potential Buyer Wants To Pay With Paypal?

分类: PayPal FAQ   时间: 2009-10-14   标签: , , , , , , ,

I am selling an item through craigslist and the person who wants to buy it for me is willing to buy the item for the price i am asking, but they want to pay through Paypal and the person said they would add an extra $100 to cover for shipping. I’ve never sold anything on craigslist before and I’ve heard of scams happening on there. So any suggestions? Should i go through with it??

No don’t do it. Craigslist is more for local purchases then shipping else where. It sounds shady to me especially since they want to add more money for shipping. They could probably find a similar item near where they live.
If you want to do this then you need to make sure that the money is put in your pay pal account and its not taken out of your account because its a valid account. You can tell the person you want to make sure that the money stays in the account before shipping the item. If they are not scamming you then they can hold off and wait. If they are scammers they will pressure you to just send the item, the money is “good”

sounds like a scam, if you do decide to accept the payment through pay pal, ship it to the address confirmed on their pay pal account. That way you are protected, if you ship it to a different address then what the pay pal account shows, you will not be covered by there seller protection plan. Pay pal is great, it protects the buyer and the seller, as long as you are with in their guidelines.

PayPal is one of the safer ways to do it. Don’t entertain suggestions of another PayPal-like web site unless you already use the same one yourself.
Sign up for PayPal and use the online form to bill the exact amount (product + shipping) to his email address. Calculate postage based on a shipping method that generates proof of delivery. Don’t ship until your PayPal balance reflects the amount you requested, without any ‘holds’.
If your customer can’t agree to any of that, he’s either trying to scam you or he’s not worth your time.

anyone who offers more than the price you charge is running a scam,, they will either send you a phoney Paypal notice saying that they money is in your account and you will send them the item plus change and then wither Paypal notifies you that the purchase was made with a stolen credit card and you are on the hook for it or you find that there is no money in your account.
CRAIGSLIST tells its clients to NEVER deal with anyone who is not local and paying you directly
