I trust Paypal completely. I’ve been using them for years and never had a problem with them… in fact tehy are wonderful with the services that they offer; such as bank transfers, and speed of fund desopsits.
Paypal is very safe and reliable. I have been using it for as long as it has been in existence, and now that ebay owns Paypal it is a seamless way to pay for things bought there, but Paypal is available for many, many other on-line merchants and services and continues to grow.
Paypal works like a bank but is just a middleman for your money so you don’t have to disclose your personal information directly to the seller of whatever you are buying. Your bank account information is just as safe with them as it is with your bank.
All I can say about the people that have beefs against Paypal is that they were trying to use it improperly or deceitfully. Paypal actually protects you when you buy items and pay through it (go look up the buyer protections!), even more so if your source of funds is a credit card b/c then you also have the policy of the credit card on top of the Paypal protection.
Read their policy and understand it. It’s not that hard. There is also an incredible amount of information topics and discussion boards on Paypal and ebay.
Make your own decision and don’t base it on others “hearsay.”
I absolutely do not trust Paypal, and neither do many other people. I was getting into ebay when Paypal kind of took over, and I refused to sign up for it after I read the terms and conditions. I don’t give anyone unlimited access to my bank account and I don’t give out my credit card number except for one-time purchases. I don’t like the way they operate and I want nothing to do with them. There are entire websites dedicated to the things people have endured from Paypal, and if you google you can find them.

a seller I filed a duspute with paypal and they will look into the matter for you
its great to have them on your side
plus you dont need to use a credit card you can
use your bank account instead
