I created a paypal account because someone in the US has to send me some money. He lives in NYC and I live in India. How long will it take to show up in my pay pal account after he has sent it ?

If he has had his PayPal account long enough for his checking account and credit card to be approved, then it will be fairly fast. If he transfers directly from a positive balance in his PP account, it will be immediate. If he uses a PP-issued credit card, it is almost immediate. With a bank-issued credit card, the transfer is usually approved almost immediately. If he sends funds from a bank account or uses an e-check, it might take a few days – during which time it will show as “pending” for you.
If you are sending him goods, wait until you get the final notice from PayPal, and have accepted the money into your account before sending him the goods.
