I sent him the money through paypal a couple of hours ago and have not received an email back from him yet.
I do, however, have a conformation email from paypal.
So how long does it generally take for a person to receive those funds through paypal? I mean, how long will it be until the seller knows that I have actually paid him?

The money should go into the account instantly, -unless- you paid with an e-check in which case it can take a few days. Doesn’t mean the person has been online to check his email, though; some people only check their email once a week.
instant should go right to his accounts.
