I am trying to sell something, but I know nothing about PayPal. I have seen it on eBay, but I don’t know how it works. Do I get the money or check or whatever it is before I ship the item or vice versa.
Please help me clear this out. Thank you.

Do not under any circumstances pay via PayPal for an item on craigslist……
Craigslist is for local sales only — You pay somebody via PayPal for an item on craigslist then just kiss your cash goodbye!…. You have absolutely NO buyers protection like ebay has….. If somebody is trying to get you to pay via PayPal on craigslist then its probably a scam……
That is why NOBODY will pay you via PayPal on craigslist — They have absolutely no way of knowing if you are for real or a scammer….. If you will be selling items localy them have them pick it up and pay cash —- If your sales will be national then use ebay – Not craigslist….
Personally I would not use PayPal for Craigslist. To my knowledge, PayPal will not protect the transaction. Craigslist is person to person with no medium like eBay. You could send money to someone and they could probably get away with just keeping it and not sending you anything. And vice versa. CL is most safely used for face to face transactions. It’s a big mess just waiting to happen, neither seller or buyer are protected by anything.
I suppose if you have spoken to the person on the phone and you are the one sending the item it would be okay. If they send the money first. Then again anyone who does that could be considered naive.
