I have a few thousand dollars in my PayPal account that I need ASAP for a down payment on a car. Is there a quick way to get the money or is the 4 – 5 day transfer method the only option I have? I can’t use PayPal as a source of funds on this car. =(

The ACH option is your only option, unless the seller accepts debit cards, and you have PayPal’s debit card..
ACH’s take 3-5 days to process any way you go. It is not anything unique to PayPal..
So.. no.. there is no way around it unless the seller takes debit cards…
If you need it that quickly, find out whether the person you are paying has a PayPal account (doesn’t hurt to ask, and…problem solved).
Otherwise, It’s normally 2 days for a transfer to your bank (if done before 2pm PST).
Debit card is the best option. If you don’t have one, and you plan on continuing to use PayPal, the you really should get one. It can be used anywhere MasterCard is accepted, and they give you cash back bonuses.

Yes, the 4-5 day transfer is the quickest method they allow, although I’ve transferred money and had in in my account in under 72 hours, I guess it varies on whichever bank you have ~ Good Luck!
You should have applied for and received a Pay-pal debit card. They are free and you can use it like cash. Otherwise you are stuck, you’ll just have to wait a few days for the funds to go through.
