whenever i go to sign into my paypal account when trying to make a purchase, it tells me that “this credit card can not be used for this transaction” it then asks me to link a bank account. why do i have to link a bank account? why cant it just let me pay with a credit card?

Check with your Credit Card company and/or your agreement on whether you are able to purchase online. I doubt that would be a problem, but just to make sure. In addition, the amount of purchase maybe be outside your max limit on the card. Other than that, the only thing i guess you can do is contact ur credit card company or Paypal customer support. (:
paypal probably does not allow you to use a certain credit card
