How Can I Stop Another Hacker Getting Into My Paypal Account?

分类: PayPal FAQ   时间: 2009-07-12   标签: , , , , , ,

I believe I had a hacker in my Paypal account – I had fraudulent purchases made on a credit card used only for Paypal & never taken out of the house. At the same time I couldn’t easily access my Paypal account – it got very very slow and hard to open, so I am very suspicious somebody else had got into it. How can I prevent this happening again? Has anybody else had the same problem?

you have to be very careful about being tricked is the main thing.
Don’t trust any emails from Paypal or from banks, read the email, and then go to the bank’s website your own way, not with their link- you could end up on a fake site.
Also, get some spyware and anti virus. AVG do a decent one. Viruses these days are all about getting you to install little programs that look at your details, gone of the days of annoying but funny hackers.
Also, if a website or anythign asks you to install something.. ie you get that agree/disagree pop up, only go with it if it’s from a very well know site like paypal, ebay, amazon or one of those.

The purchases would have shown up on your statement with the word paypal, a person (even yourself) can not get your card number etc by logging in to your paypal account. If they didn’t show up on your statements as paypal payments then you should be looking a bit closer to home.
Make sure that you are always on the real paypal website, don’t visit paypal by clicking a link in an email.

Some good tips here on the PayPal site itselfhttps://www.paypal.com/uk/cgi-bin/webscr…
If you’re now wary of clicking on unknown links, you can also access that page from the PayPal home page – go there and look for the Security Centre link at the top of the page, then use that.
Presumably you reported the fraudulent activity? If not already done, there’s a link on that same page to report unauthorised activity.

Never had a problem with mine in around 8 years!
Don’t have the same password as your ebay password.
Don’t use emails (with links) to log into PP – always go to PP direct to log in.
Make sure your password contains letters and numbers – as random as possible and change it once a month.
Never save your password on any computer.

This happened to me and in short there is a 100% solution. Don’t use pay pal at all. Ever since this happened to me i used other forms of payment such as credit card or money order. I Don’t miss pay pal at all.
