My parents are set on the idea that if they put there credit card online it will get stolen. But they will give it to anyone over the phone. How can i convince them that paypal is safe and wont get their card stolen?

Perhaps the best way is to prove it by doing it but with minimal risk:
1. Contact the credit card company and check their policy in the case of credit card fraud.
2. Use a credit card with a very small credit limit..say $500
This way you can reassure your parents that even if something went wrong there wont be any major problem. Then over time when everything goes ok with PayPal they will realize that it works they can relax.
you really can’t its hard. what you can do is you can show them the site and show them that the site says that everything will be confidential. you can also (i’m sure) go to google and see if there is a way to look up sites that are secure. maybe paypal will be on there!
Also show them that they can sign up for a pay pal credit card. that might make them feel better and this way here they have that card for that site, they will know whats coming and going! i hope this helps!
At best you’ll be able to convince them that PayPal is safer than the phone. You may want to suggest that they get a special low-balance card for online purchases, and have strict rules set up with the issuer. After my credit card number was stolen and used on eBay, I had my company put passwords on the account and also prevent the card from being used on any online service (including eBay) except for the two services I use for making payments.
Print out PayPals terms of use and then highlight the parts that pertain to zero liability for fraud. Also you might be able to Google information of the lack of this ever happening. I also really like the idea of having everything on a seperate bank account. I think that Im going to switch mine over like that so thank you for your question, it helped me even though I didnt know that I needed help. The universe is a very strange place indeed.
I understand their fears because of so many scams and hackers that show up in the news. What I did was open a checking account specifically for Paypal. I only keep enough money in there for whatever business I need to do. When necessary I can transfer from my major account to the account I opened specifically for online purchases. With the bank account I got a debit card which is the number I use online. Try suggesting this to your parents.
You should totally show them these links which vouch for Paypal’s security:http://www.auctionbytes.com/cab/abn/y06/…http://www.auctionbytes.com/cab/abn/y06/…http://techrepublic.com.com/5208-6230-0.…http://texassportfishing.com/PayPal.htm
I mean, sheesh, they’re totally safe…
Well to be honest with the amount of hackers and crooks out there, I don’t use credit cards anymore and have only Used Pay Pal a couple of times ,simple rule tread softly and quietly
