Ebay: A Seller Asks The Buyer To Pay 4% Commission If He Uses Paypal To Pay For The Item?

分类: PayPal FAQ   时间: 2009-10-13   标签: , , , , , , ,

Is the customer forced to accept this notice in the description. Isn’t there a Ebay rule or policy that tells the seller to add this 4% immediatly on the auction price. Now the seller is asking me to make a second payment 4% worth de price of the item to pay for the Paypal seller’s commission he had to pay for.

this is not allowed. They are not supposed to do that. They should charge it in shipping and handling and not mention it.
    Please check with ebay.

hi- if you already paid for the item and the transaction is complete, this seller has no right to ask you for a supplemental payment. it sounds like this is the first time this guy used paypal and didn’t realize that paypal takes out a commission (actually i thought it was only 3%).
if he had you pay with a credit card, he would also have to pay a merchant fee for processing, so if he doesn’t want to incur the fee he would need to restrict himself to taking checks or money orders through the mail ,which most buyers don’t want to do.
anyway, you are off the hook- the guy should have built the 3% into his reserve price
