I have the basic personal account, which is free. What I want to know, is if I sell something, can I get paid through this account? Or do I have to upgrade to a different account?

Or do I have to upgrade to a different account? When you reach a certain level, you’ll have to upgrade to premier or business class. Same account,
You can use the free account for both buying and selling.
You can update your account if you want, seems I remember that those are free but limited in somethings.
Check out the rules as paypal.
If you are an individual selling a few items, the basic account is fine. If you are running a business on E-Bay, upgrading may be worthwhile.
As far as I know, you can use the same PayPal account for buying and selling.
