As long as you just gave your paypal email address, it’ll be fine. If you gave out your email address and password, your account is cleaned out by now.
Paypal doesn’t hold the money in escrow. If it is an e-check you are receiving, paypal will notify you when it clears.
One downside of paypal, if the buyer complains, paypal will jerk the money out of your account in a NY minute, and they tend to find with the buyer in a dispute. Shyster buyers know this. They will be perfectly OK with the item, but complain anyway just to get their money back.
Paypal does not allow transactions of certain items, such as firearms, they will keep your money and cancel your account, so make sure you are selling something that is OK by their policies.
No. In fact, that’s part of a classic scam. A scamming “buyer” will send a phony e-mail pretending to be from Paypal saying that the money is being held in escrow until the seller ships the item and provides some kind of confirmation number or tracking number, and then the funds will be released. That’s a SCAM.
In real life, it works just the opposite way. The money shows up in your Paypal account, and only AFTER the money is there do you send the item.
Make sure you check your Paypal account by opening a new browser window and typing “www.paypal.com” in the address bar — NOT by clicking any link sent to you by the alleged buyer.
The only info you need to give to a buyer when they are paying through PayPal is the email address you have registered with them.
When the buyer pays, the amount is immediately put into your PayPal account where you can either leave it or have it transferred into your bank account.
